In 2023 I lost about 25 lbs of stubborn stress weight I had been carrying onto, and was maintaining that healthy weight loss through the holidays. I decided I was ready to switch things up in the New Year and get into an intentional & sustainable plan – adding in more of my favorite foods, eating MORE (especially protein & fiber!), strength training MORE, and just feeling even BETTER for the longhaul. So I decided to give the FASTer Way a go for a round!

WHAT IS THE FASTER WAY?

The FASTer Way to Fat Loss is a virtual fitness and nutrition company, teaching clients how to burn fat and live a truly healthy lifestyle through intermittent fasting, carb cycling, macro tracking, whole food nutrition, strategic workouts, and positive mindset.

I first learned about the program about 4 years ago when I was pregnant with Ford and gave it a go but wasn’t fully committed to it at the time. This is my first round where I’ve been 1000% all in and I am loving how it brings so many aspects of health and fitness that I love and makes them all work together – taking all of the planning and guesswork out and laying it all out for me in one seamless app to follow along with each day.

WHAT DOES THE NUTRITION LOOK LIKE?

Each day I’m practicing INTERMITTENT FASTING, meaning I give my digestive system a break overnight, through the next morning. I still eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner – just within an 8 hour window. My window is usually 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM. You can tweak the fasting to a longer window if you like – it’s all customizable to you.

CARB CYCLING is something new to me that I have been LOVING. I love the results I see when eating low carb but it can get old after some time. Higher carb gives me such good energy but sometimes I feel like it keeps my body from getting into fat burning mode especially if I’m not balancing out my protein & fats accordingly. The FASTer Way approach does two days of low carb, and the rest “regular carb”. It’s been the perfect “best of both worlds” for me to have the best energy yet still see results – and the macro tracking helps me make sure I’m getting in my protein & fats as needed on all of the days!

Speaking of MACRO TRACKING, I have always felt so empowered by it and have been a long time fan. Your coach will walk you through exactly how to plan out your macros, track what you eat, and make room for the food you LOVE while still reaching your goals. It’s all done within the same “Faster Way” app and truly takes just a few minutes of my whole day yet helps me stay super mindful. No previous macro tracking experience required – they will teach you everything!!! A skill you will use forever, long beyond the program.

Each week you have the option to plug in the “weekly meal plan” that they offer. You can stick to it completely, use it for ideas, just use a few of the meals, or replace it all with your own. It’s super helpful to have meal ideas right there for you – and you can click on each to open up the recipe to follow. All whole food nutrition – just REAL food, and naturally gluten and dairy free.

WHAT ARE THE WORKOUTS LIKE?

Every day there are 30 minute workouts available in the app. They’re all videos to follow along with in real time, with demos for every single move. The workouts are “no repeat” so even though they follow a similar structure each week (HIIT, Tabata, Upper Body, Lower Body, etc) you’ll never do the same exact workout twice. Makes it so FUN and keeps it fresh.

Workouts can be done at home OR in a gym, and there are always low impact modifications offered for every move.

I have found that I’m reaching for heavier weights, and pushing myself harder than every before and truly looking forward to every single new workout and really ENJOYING them. It’s been such a fun way to switch things up and I honestly feel my muscles getting stronger already only a couple of weeks in.

WHO IS IT FOR? WHAT IF I HAVE A LOT OF WEIGHT TO LOSE, OR JUST WANT TO BUILD STRENGTH?

The FASTer Way program is for anyone looking for a structured program to follow where they feel accountable to their goals. Great option if you are:

  • a beginner with a significant amount of weight to lose
  • in a plateau, looking to change things up / incorporate something new to lose fat / get HEALTHY
  • new to tracking macros OR experienced
  • new or experienced with exercise
  • looking to gain strength / build muscle
  • looking to lose any amount of fat
  • need help staying consistent and taking the confusion out of what to do and when
  • want someone else to tell you exactly what to do so you can just show up and do it!

It truly works for anyone who wants to lose fat and build strength and live a long healthy life with great energy so they can feel their best every day. It’s super customizable – to the point that I would honestly recommend to ANYONE willing to put in the effort.

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAM AND WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

The program starts on a Monday and lasts for 6 weeks. The first week is PREP WEEK and they walk you through everything, so you don’t need to come prepared just ready to jump in and learn!

When you join the program, you’ll take a quiz that helps identify your goals (wanting to lose weight, maintain, gain, etc), your comfort level / experience with fasting, etc.

You’ll get custom macros just for you, and will be assigned to a 1:1 coach who will support you through the entire process. I’m in a group for support and have 1:1 access to my coach any time.

You’ll gain access to the all-in-one app which is honestly my favorite part!

MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE FASTER WAY

THE APP. I am one who *loves* some accountability and loves a user-friendly minimalist vibe that will not overstimulate or overwhelm my already scattered brain and this app is that.

Everything is housed all in one: your daily goals (fasting timer, water intake, macro tracker, workouts, meal plans, recipes)

Each morning I’ll take a look at the app, see what my workout will be that day, add in the foods I really want to eat if there’s anything specific on my mind, and then plug in everything else to meet my goals.

I LOVE the fasting timer that reminds me when it’s time to start and break my fast. I love that the macro tracker is all in the same app where you can search any food and log it in just a few seconds. And I *looove* that you earn stars each day for hitting your goals! This is my love language lol. I love a “to do list” / star chart situation and find it so motivating to drink my water, hit my macros, get in my daily movement, log my fast, etc. Game changer for me!

RESULTS I’VE SEEN SO FAR

My top result so far has been CONSISTENCY and making my goals happen every day regardless of what’s going on. I’m always busy and always putting others first and honestly I don’t see that changing any time soon. But that doesn’t mean I’m off the list. Maybe my workout comes after I get dinner started or set the boys up with an activity or host family in town but it GETS DONE.

I’m drinking water more consistently, I’m eating way more protein and fiber and hitting (close to) my macros DAILY, I’m pushing myself in my workouts more than ever before. I’m fasting regularly but also eating enough and not under-eating like I could tend to – yet still I’m at a new low weight and feel my muscles getting stronger.
