These chocolate covered strawberries are a quick and easy dessert you can customize to your liking. Read on for how to get them perfect every time, and how to store for later! We make ours dairy free, and they are such a treat!

Valentine’s Day is among us, and what better way to celebrate than with the easiest chocolate dessert?! Chocolate covered strawberries are the BEST last-minute no-brainer treat but they still look like you went all out. And they taste like it too!

My favorite ones are dipped in chocolate with a little extra chocolatey drizzle on top, and sprinkled with some flakey sea salt. That salty-sweet combo with the fresh strawberry underneath… to die for!

One of my biggest tips for getting them perfect is making sure they are thoroughly dried, after washing/before dipping. I also find that keeping them at room temp (instead of straight from the fridge) really helps the coating go on perfect and harden quick!

These are best enjoyed within 2-3 days, if they last that long! But if your house is anything like ours, they won’t!

Read onto the notes at the bottom of the recipe for our favorite chocolate to use – but also feel free to use WHATEVER bar or chips you have on hand/love! They’re going to be delicious no matter what!

Please let me know if you make these by leaving a review below! I can’t wait to hear how you top yours! xo

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Fresh strawberries dipped in rich chocolate for an easy treat any time!
Prep Time15 minutes
Total Time15 minutes
Course: Dessert
Keyword: strawberries, chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1 lb strawberries
  • 1 cup chocolate chopped bar or chips
  • chopped nuts or flakey sea salt for topping

Instructions

  • For best results, use strawberries at room temperature. Wash and thoroughly dry the berries with paper towels, and lay out on a dry surface until ready to dip. Line a plate or baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Prep your chopped nuts or flakey sea salt (if using) and set out in small bowls near your "dipping station".
  • Melt the chocolate using the microwave or a double boiler method.
In the microwave, heat the chocolate for 20 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
OR on the stovetop: place the chocolate in a glass bowl and set over top of a pot (smaller than the bowl) filled with boiling water. Stir the chocolate until melted and smooth.
  • Dip the strawberries into the melted chocolate, swirling up and into the air to allow the excess chocolate to drip off. Dip and roll gently into the chopped nuts, if using. Lay the strawberries flat on the parchment paper and sprinkle with additional toppings or flakey sea salt. I like to use a spoon and add a drizzle of extra melted chocolate over top for a pretty look.
  • Allow the chocolate to harden, then enjoy! Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container lined with paper towels so they don't get soggy.

Notes

  • Use your favorite bar of chocolate, chopped, or any chocolate chips you like.  The brand Hu makes great chocolate bars that can be found on Amazon or Thrive Market, or in stores like Whole Foods.  Enjoy Life makes great dairy free chocolate chips that we use most often.
  • Get creative with your toppings!  Try any chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, peanuts), sprinkles, sea salt, crushed graham crackers, or a drizzle of another chocolate like milk chocolate or white chocolate.
